Our friendly reception staff will take appointments from 8.00 am to 5:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 8.00am to 8.00pm Wednesday . When phoning please tell the receptionist which doctor you would like to see and in general terms the reason for your appointment (e.g. a medical problem or an insurance medical). This allows reception to allocate the correct amount of time for you.
You are more than welcome to see the Doctor of your choice. The fact that we now have several Doctors all under the one roof allows more choices for you and also allows our Doctors to take much needed breaks, knowing their patients are going to be well looked after in their absence. We do ask that to ensure you see the Doctor of your choice that you ring in advance for non-urgent, routine appointments. If your appointment is urgent, you will always be seen on the same day. However you may not be able to see the Doctor of your choice.
We are happy to accept any new patients. Our reception staff can advise you which doctor in the practice best suits your needs.
Registering with this practice allows us to offer you better health care with services such as immunisation and smear recalls along with educational clinics for asthma and diabetes. We are also able to offer specific age brackets a reduced co-payment. For example everyone aged 65 and over pay just $31.00 regardless of community services card status.
When transferring from another practice we encourage you to transfer your old records. This is not compulsory, however it does help if your doctor knows your medical history. Our reception staff can provide you with the appropriate form to complete.
You are free to see other doctors outside the practice. If you see a doctor at another practice you are simply termed a casual patient. Please note that the government only allows funding for each patient at one practice. Therefore if you are “enrolled elsewhere” and visit the Southcare practice, you may have to pay increased fees as we would have not received funding for you. Please note this does not apply if you see any of our Doctors within the Southcare practice.
If you want to change practices you are certainly free to do so. You simply need to fill out a registration form at your new practice and we will transfer your medical records.
