Skin Lesions
A big thank you to the Fred & Eunice Rodie Charitable Trust for enabling SouthCare to purchase a Liquid Nitrogen Gun for treating skin lesions and a Conmed Hyfrecator 2000 which is a machine used to remove skin lesions.
Taranaki in particular has a very high incidence of skin cancer and the purchase of this equipment will enable us to treat these lesions in their early days to prevent skin cancer from occurring.
Liquid Nitrogen is a cold, liquified gas with a temperature of -321oF. Liquid nitrogen therapy is done by spraying this cold liquid onto the skin from a spray gun. Liquid nitrogen is used to freeze and destroy skin growth such as warts, keratoses and precancers.
The Hyfrecator 2000 can be used in treating many skin lesions, benign and some cancerous lesions as well
