SouthCare Trustees Profiles
![]() | Mary Bourke - ChairpersonI'm delighted with the performance of the Trust team and the new centre's Practice Manager Megan Rolfe. These people, like me, are extremely keen to see the project up and running as soon as possible. |
![]() | Bruce Millard - SolicitorI see my appointment as a Trustee as an extension of my nine years as a director of the Taranaki District Hospital Board , when my focus was to ensure that the district obtained the best possible health care services, provided in a new hospital. This was in the face of threats of closure, and general negativity about the necessary requirements for an adequate and proper service for South Taranaki. |
![]() | Garth Weir - Company DirectorAs an employer I found some of the things new employees want to know before they start is: Do you have a hospital, do you have good doctors and how hard is it to get to see one? Having a trust of this kind ensures the community and the doctors both benefit. Our town and its citizens benefit through being able to get the medical help by doctors who are well trained, up to date with the latest information and procedures, and who work reasonable hours. If they are on study leave or holiday their patients will get the same level of attention from another trust GP. Our doctors benefit by having the opportunity to network, swap ideas and support each other. Being able to attend to the sick wihout worrying about bad debts, staff, OSH or filling in statistics will help retain doctors we have and encourage new ones to come to Hawera. |

![]() | Mark Hughson - Chartered AccountantInitially I was asked to join an investigation party..... Once I became aware of the doctor crisis in my home town I felt compelled to assist the community in attracting and retaining doctors. |
![]() | Trevor Hurlow- General PractitionerAs one of the originators of this concept and having surrounded myself with "movers and shakers" who can bring this to reality, I am excited to be part of Hawera's future in the new GP centre. |
