Over the last 18 months, Brigitte Lindsay, the only Cardiac Nurse Practitioner in Taranaki, has provided a pilot service to Southcare patients with heart disease or at risk of developing heart disease. The pilot service evaluation, which measured clinical and lifestyle parameters and obtained surveys from patients, doctors and nurses showed very positive outcomes. This successful service, which was valued by patients and Southcare staff alike, will now become a permanent fixture at Southcare.
Brigitte has worked in cardiac – related fields since 1994. She is familiar with many people in South Taranaki having worked in the Hawera Hospital High Dependency Unit and A&E Dept and Medical ward and through her role as the Cardiac Rehabilitation/Heart Failure Clinical Nurse Specialist for South Taranaki before taking on her Nurse Practitioner role.
